Where do I get University software and how do I install Self Service for my Apple Computers?

Please follow directions completely.
This process may take sometime. The time to install Self Service and applications from Self Service will vary depending on network status and computer hardware. Please be patient and make sure you have a solid connection to the network. If the device is a Macbook, please make sure it is plugged into a power source. An ethernet connection is highly preferred over WiFi.

The following instructions will guide you through the process of installing Self Service. This allows you access to install University applications your Apple computer. Please follow the instructions  carefully and completely.

  • Self Service is available only on macOS/Apple Computers.
  • Self Service cannot be installed onto PC computers.
  • macOS needs to be at least 10.13.6.
  • Do not access this on your iPhone or iPad.

After installing Self Service, you may need the VPN to use the applications you download. Please install the VPN with the following link below.

If you have received an Apple computer from the University, you do NOT need this guide. This is for those who do not have Self Service on their personal devices.

This is NOT Student Self Service. If you need grades or class registration please visit https://sss.uarts.edu/student for Student Self Service.

1. Open a web browser and type "https://jss.uarts.edu:8443/enroll/" into the address bar.

2. Login using your UArts username and password.

This is the same information as your Portal credentials.

3. Select the proper site to enter that fits your current University role from the drop down menu and select "Enroll" afterwards.

It is important that you select the right option to get access to the proper applications.

  • For STUDENTS, select "STUDENT" from the drop down menu.
  • For FACULTY and STAFF, select "UA" From the dropdown menu.

4. Click continue to install the CA certificate.

5. Go back to your browser and click continue to to install the MDM profile.

6. Once you have completed these steps Self Service will automatically download and install itself to your computer.

You still need to be connected to the UArts network for this. Do not exit the VPN.

The process will take some time depending on network connectivity and traffic at the time.

Check your applications folder periodically to see if it has installed.

7. When Self Service shows up, open the application and login with your UArts credentials.

This is the same information as your Portal credentials.

8. Please select your current status at the university below to continue.

8.1. If you are a Student, Click here to continue.

8.1.1. Install Student Resources.

Before you can get any software you need to install “Student Resources”. This installs the files necessary for for Self Service to provide the proper install options.

Once installed, your laptop will automatically restart itself.

8.1.2. Launch Self Service and sign in. You can now install UArts software to your laptop.

8.2. If you are a Faculty or Staff member, Click here to Continue.

8.2.1. Install "Faculty And Staff Personal Mac Resources"

Before you can get any software you need to install “Faculty And Staff Personal Mac Resources”. This installs the files necessary for for Self Service to provide the proper install options.

Once installed, your laptop will automatically restart itself.

8.2.2. Launch Self Service and sign in. You can now install UArts software to your laptop.
