Adding Firefox for Onbase
Onbase users are required to utilize a specific version of the Firefox web browser in order to access Onbase. Some times, Firefox may auto update which will cause you to be unable to access Onbase. This article will walk you through removing updated Firefox versions and re-adding Firefox ESR with KACE, and how to tell Firefox not to look for updates automatically.
Checking your version of Windows
Open your Start Menu and right click on 'computer', choose 'properties' from the drop down box. In the new window, you can check the version of Windows you are running. It will either be 64-bit or 32-bit. Be sure to remember this number.
Logging in to KACE
After quitting Firefox open another browser (Such as Chrome). Go to the URL: http://k1000.uarts.edu and sign in with your Uarts username and password.
Once logged in, you will see the KACE home screen. Click "Want Software".
Once on the Downloads page, you will see the attached list. Click the Firefox uninstaller that coorisponds to the version of Windows you are running. (This is the number from Step 1, either 64-bit or 32-bit)
You will get a pop up in the lower left of your screen. Click 'OK' to run the uninstaller.
After the uninstall, which may take 1-2 minutes (the firefox icon will disappear from your desktop when the uninstall finishes) you will need to restart your computer.
After your computer restarts follow directions 1 & 2 to bring you back to the KACE download page. From there, you will now choose the Firefox ESR 38.5 installer from the menu. (Again, choose the installer that coorisponds to the windows version you are running.)
The installer will cause another pop up to appear in the lower left of the screen. Click 'OK' to allow it to run. This will take 2-3 minutes after which the Firefox icon will re-appear on your desktop.
You have now successfully re-installed Firefox ESR 38 for Onbase!
