How do I install Global Protect VPN?

The following guide will walk you through installing the Global Protect VPN client. This will allow you to access on campus network resources from off campus.

Before you can access the Global Protect VPN you must first set up your OneLogin account with multi-factor authentication. See OneLogin Account Setup for instructions.

Please follow the directions below exactly to avoid set up issues.

1. Download and install the Global Protect

Visit https://gp.uarts.edu and sign in with your UArts credentials.

Use the same credentials as the portal.

2. Pick your operating system below

3. If you are on a macOS computer, click here to continue.

3.1. Select "Download Mac 32/64 bit GlobalProtect agent".

3.3. Select "Continue".

3.4. "GlobalProtect" should be already checked. If it is not please make sure it is. Select "Continue".

3.5. Enter your computers credentials and finish the installation

3.6. A Security prompt may show up depending on your macOS version. You must accept this prompt in order to continue.

GlobalProtect will not work properly if this is not enabled.

3.7. Allow the Application to install in the Security window.

  1. Go to System Preferences from the Apple Menu at the top left hand side.
  2. Select Security & Privacy.
  3. Under the General tab and select Allow and then close the Security & Privacy window.

3.8. Once finished, the GlobalProtect VPN should launch.

3.9. Enter the following address and select "Connect" when finished.

gp.uarts.edu

3.10. Enter your UArts credentials.

You will be prompted to log in through OneLogin. If you have not yet set up your OneLogin account MFA you will be prompted to do so.

This is the same as your portal credentials.

3.11. Once signed in it will say "Connected". You may now use University apps or web-services that require a University connection.

4. If you are on a Windows PC computer, click here to continue.

4.1. Find out which version of Windows OS you are running.

Due to the nature of the Windows environment, Windows comes in 2  different versions, 64-bit and 32-bit. There are specific GlobalProtect installers for these versions of Windows.

Pick only one.

  1. 32bit- click on "Download Windows 32 bit GlobalProtect agent"
  2. 64bit - click on "Download Windows 64 bit GlobalProtect agent"

4.3. Download and run the installer

4.4. The GlobalProtect VPN window should appear after installing.

If it does not appear, click on the "globe" like icon in your system tray

4.5. Enter the following address and select "Connect" when finished.

4.6. Enter your UArts credentials.

You will be prompted to log in through OneLogin. If you have not yet set up your OneLogin account MFA you will be prompted to do so.

4.7. Once signed in it will say "Connected". You may now use University apps or web-services that require a University connection.
